The Select Patient Dialog Box

With the release of recent Dentrix updates, the Select Patient dialog box has gone through some changes. In the current Dentrix G5 version, when you click the Select Patient button, you see this dialog box:



But some users prefer the "old" dialog box from previous Dentrix versions (seen below):



Did you know you can choose which version of the Select Patient dialog box displays on your network? Here's how:

  1. In the Office Manager, select Maintenance > Practice Setup > Preferences
  2. In the Additional Options group box, mark the Use Simple Select Patient In All Modules checkbox. With the box checked, you will see the older version. 
  3. Click OK to save your changes.

Hiding Social Security Numbers

With identify theft on the rise, many people are nervous about where their Social Security number might show up. Did you know you have options about how Social Security numbers are displayed in Dentrix or printed on Dentrix reports?

In the Office Manager, go to Maintenance > Practice Setup > Preferences, and open the General Options tab. In the Additional Options group box, check the option to Hide Social Security Number. Then choose an option from the drop-down list as to how the number will be hidden:

  • Hide Completely - Removes the number from view (the field appears blank)
  • Mask Completely - Replaces the digits of the number with the "#" symbol
  • Mask All but Last 4 Numbers - Replaces the first five digits with the "#" symbol but displays the last four digits


Note: You will still be able to view the Social Security number from the Patient Information dialog box in the Family File and Update Patient Information dialog box in the Questionnaires module.

New ADA-CDT Codes

Are you up to date with the 2013 ADA-CDT procedure codes? 35 new procedure codes and changes to some existing procedure codes were recently added. If you are running Dentrix G4 Productivity Pack 8 or later, you can download and install these new codes using the Check for Updates tool.

To find the Check for Updates tool:

  1. Right-click the Dentrix Quick Launch icon in the notification area of the Windows taskbar to open the Quick Launch menu.
  2. Click Updates and then click Check for Updates.  The CDT 2013 Update should appear as an optional update.
  3. Select the CDT 2013 Update and click Yes to install the update.
If the Dentrix Quick Launch icon doesn't appear  in the Windows taskbar, you can check for updates by clicking About Dentrix from the Help menu of any Dentrix module and then clicking Check for Updates.

Updating Scheduled Amounts

It's the start of a new year!  In keeping up with the financial needs of your practice it may also be a time to look at the fees you are charging for procedures. Once you have updated your office fee schedule, you can use the Update Scheduled Amounts on Appointments feature to update the fees in your scheduled appointments without having to edit appointments individually! The Update Scheduled Amount on Appointments feature lets you select a starting date for the updated fees to take effect. 



The Update Scheduled Amounts for Appointments feature works with Dentrix G4 Productivity Pack 7 or higher
